“VIRGINIA LANDSCAPES” BY DEBRA SHEFFER EXHIBIT RECEPTION

May 1 @ 12:00 pmMay 31 @ 6:00 pm

Debra Sheffer’s Virginia Landscapes reflects her shift from graphic design toward observational painting sparked by a Robert Henri portrait at the National Gallery, later developed through study at Beverley Street Studio School. Working from quiet, light-filled Virginia landscapes, she often paints on location, beginning with tonal brush marks and value studies that balance light and dark. Influenced by painters such as Edgar Payne, William Wendt, Fairfield Porter, and Corot, her work increasingly explores abstracted forms drawn from direct observation.
