Rosemary Gallick

During the month of November, Rosemary Gallick will be featured in our tasting room.

I have been creating art since childhood and it has been an enduring passion. My paintings are comprised of a series of abstracts, musical themes and portraits that focus on popular icons. Vibrant colors explode on the canvas. I try to capture an energy of the performer or
the explosion of colors. Frequently, I embellish the surface to create a 3-d effect. My artwork ranges from portraits of pop icons to still life renderings that focus on music and elements of enjoyment. I have been honored to have my artwork featured in Elan magazine (May 2011) and in the Vienna “Take a Seat” bench project (July 2019) and in the Northern Virginia magazine (November 2009). My paintings were selected for the covers of the Northern Virginia Review (Spring 2011 and 2015). I received the Outstanding Faculty Award for College and Community Service at Northern Virginia Community College-Manassas campus in 2016. My artwork was part of a juried exhibition at the Emerge Gallery in Saugerties, New York. Ms. Gallick was also selected as the Artist in Residency for August and September 2019 at the Haymarket Museum, Virginia. I also frequently display my artwork in rotating shows at the Sherwood Center in Fairfax City and at the
Village Green Gallery in Vienna, Va.. Recently, my galactic artwork was part of the Millwood Spring 2022 exhibition and was the Featured artist from May-July at the Barrel Oaks Winery in Delaplane, Va. In addition to my full-time teaching, I am the Gallery Director at the Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Community College in Manassas, VA. The primary goal of my creations is to have the viewer respond by reflecting on memories that evoke a joy and appreciation of living!

Helen-Jean Smith & Bryan Baker

During the month of December, Helen-Jean Smith and Bryan Baker will have art on display in the tasting room.

HELEN JEAN SMITH is a nationally recognized artist, known for her village-style portraits. Helen Jean’s latest works have taken an interesting turn. She has developed a series depicting Noah collecting animals in various parts of the world. Her work has also included depictions of Slavic folk tales.

She was born in Canada and educated at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. After marrying a United States Marine Corps Officer, she became a United States citizen, and now lives in Shenandoah County, Virginia.

Most of her paintings are done on a commission basis and she has painted her whimsical town views from her home village of Lantz Mill, Virginia, to Essex, Connecticut; from Annapolis, Maryland to Victoria, British Columbia; throughout Virginia and beyond.

BRYAN BAKER is a Virginia native, growing up in Shenandoah

County.

His roots in the Valley go back generations and he fondly remembers his grandparents’ country store (Shirley’s Corner) in Woodstock, VA. This was his inspiration to begin painting the many country stores that served the communities here in Shenandoah County.

He is a true Primitive Painter as he has had no formal art training.
