Theresa Markiw was born in Montreal, Canada of Ukrainian émigrés and grew up in New Jersey. She began studying art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art at the age of eight, followed by a decade at the Barn Studio of Art in Millville, New Jersey, with renowned marsh painter and mentor, Pat Witt. In 1979 Markiw received a BFA in Visual Arts from Concordia University in Montreal.

From childhood Theresa Markiw was strongly influenced by a love of nature and the Ukrainian art traditions into which she was born.
She has studied art since she was a little girl, and throughout her life has expanded her aesthetic understanding and artistic vocabulary through teaching others, traveling and museum-hopping around the world, and living abroad in Europe, Asia, and Eurasia.

Along with our award-winning wines, we offer lunch and other delicious food offerings. You are welcome to bring your own food for a picnic on our lovely groomed lawn. Outside food is not permitted in the Tasting Room, the Terrace, or the Deck, however. Outside alcohol is not permitted anywhere on the property by Virginia state law.
