Clio ‘19 and Nebbiolo ’19 Win Gold – Virginia Governor’s Cup 2023

Clio Nebbiolo Governor's Cup GoldOnce again, Muse Vineyards brings home Gold from the Virginia Governor’s Cup!

Celebrating its 41st anniversary, the Virginia Governor’s Cup® received 614 entries from farm wineries across the Commonwealth. Regarded as one of the nation’s most stringent wine competitions, Muse Vineyards has earned a gold medal for their Clio 2019 and Nebbiolo 2019. Gold medals were awarded to 142 wines from 66 Virginia wineries, cideries and meaderies after a series of rigorous blind tastings.

Nebbiolo is a famously difficult grape to grow; it is slow to ripen and very susceptible to adverse weather conditions throughout the year. This 2019 Nebbiolo confirms that the effort to grow Nebbiolo can be justified in the bottle.

Clio can be considered Muse Vineyards’ flagship wine. It is a blend of the owners’ favorite wines, adjusted each year to perfectly complement the different flavors. Clio is their most award winning wine, it brings home gold in nearly every competition. The 2019 vintage is no different.

To receive a gold medal, a wine must receive an average score of 90 points or higher on a 100-point scale from the competition’s expert panel of world-class judges—led by the esteemed Jay Youmans, MW. For a full list of gold medalists, visit: www.virginiawine.org/governors-cup/awards.
