Guided Hike in Seven Bends State Park

Join us on a guided hike of newly-opened Seven Bends State Park, less than a mile from the entrance to Muse Vineyards guided by David V. Brotman, Executive Director of the Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River.

David will provide commentary on the flora fauna and edibles that are found in our bend in the river. The uniqueness of this place helps to make our terroir special. Hike will begin at 10 am and last about 2.5 hours. The hike begins and ends at out Tasting Room.

Enjoy beautiful forests, panoramic vistas of the valley and all that Mother Nature has to offer, and reward yourself afterwards at Muse Vineyards with relaxation and our award-winning wines.

Your guide will be David V. Brotman, Executive Director of the Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, with whom we are proud to partner on this program. Their mission is to is to keep the North Fork of the Shenandoah River clean, healthy, and beautiful through advocacy, community action, education and science. David has broad experience in environmental field work, business, conflict resolution, and education. Times spent in the Shenandoah Valley as a boy and young man — camping, hiking, fishing, and canoeing — are the very roots of his environmental interests, and his love of nature. David is a natural public educator, and has taught all age groups in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Subjects have included Chesapeake Bay ecology, Wild Edibles, and many more. In Yellowstone NP, he trained citizen scientists in field methods.

About the Hike

The hike will be about 2 hours in length, mostly in shade, and of easy to moderate difficulty. (There are some moderately steep hills.) The group will stay together for David’s descriptions of the landscape, flora and fauna, so the pace will be at a slow to moderate pace. We recommend you wear hiking shoes and bring water. We will be safe distancing among groups.

Afterwards come enjoy Muse Vineyards with friends and family. We have reopened! Bottle sales, tasting by wine flights and our full food menu are available. We look forward to your visit!

Tickets are General Admission and DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESERVE A TABLE in our Tasting Room or outside Terrace for your party. Table reservations are not required but suggested for large groups. Reservations are never required for our spacious lawn seating. (Please feel free to bring a blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy our groomed lawn.) If you do want to request a reservation for a table inside the Tasting Room or on the Tasting Room Terrace, please visit the reservations page on our web site.

Along with our award-winning wines we offer lunch and other delicious food offerings. You are welcome to bring your own food for a picnic on our lovely groomed lawn. OUTSIDE FOOD IS NOT PERMITTED IN THE TASTING ROOM OR THE TERRACE, however. Outside alcohol is not permitted anywhere on the property by Virginia state law.

In Compliance With Virginia Regulations:

  • Each group must maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet from other groups.
  • Our Tasting Room is open! Masks are required inside unless you are eating and/or drinking.
  • We will be cleaning and sanitizing regularly throughout the day according to CDC guidelines.
Guided Hike - Wine Trail at Muse Vineyards
Muse Vineyards Co-Owner Sally Cowal will lead a one-hour “Harvest Walk” at Muse Vineyards.

Muse Vineyards Co-Owner Sally Cowal will lead a one-hour walk “Harvest Walk” through Muse Vineyards for an up-close look at the vines and to see and discuss what’s been harvested so far! She’ll show you the beautiful vineyards, the winery and vistas. After the walk you’ll enjoy a Wine Flight tasting of 5 fine Muse Vineyards wines with Sally. Tour and tasting (Wine Flight included) $25 for the public and no charge for our Wine Club members. The walk is limited to 12 participants.

Guided Wildlife Hike in Seven Bends State Park

Matt Kowalski, a wildlife biologist, will lead a two hour hike from Muse Vineyards to the new Seven Bends State Park, the entrance of which is less than half mile from the vineyard. On the park trails, Matt will talk about the local wildlife, from snakes to deer, that inhabit our woods, mountains and streams. Return to Muse Vineyards afterwards for some of our refreshing, award-winning wines.

She’ll discuss what’s happening in the vineyard mid-summer, how the 2020 harvest looks, and show you the beautiful vineyards and nearby river vistas.
